Odemwingie Surgery Rubbished

Following news reports in Nigeria suggesting that Peter Odemwingie is to undergo surgery, Roy Hodgson has moved quick to rubbish the suggestion.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Roy Hodgson admitted that Zoltan Gera will be joined by Peter Odemwingie in Amsterdam, but it's to see a specialist, not for surgery.

'There is no question of an operation for Peter. Our doctor, Mark Gillett, has a very good relationship with Peter and whenever he has a poor game, he looks to his ankle a little bit. That's what he's been doing ever since I've been at the club. Whenever things aren't going his way, and he's not in top form, he looks at his ankle.'

Odemwingie joins Gera mainly for a confidence boost from the specialist.

'Zolly has been training really well and everything looks perfect, so the doctor's going with Zolly just to the confirmation that everything is fine. Zolly will get that back up and I think he will do the same with Peter. He will take him to the specialist who will say 'it's not a problem, keep going.'
