'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Talent Between The Sticks Shows Club Progression

Goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely believes that our last two goalkeepers show how far the club have come in terms of recognition in the Premier League.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Kiely explained that in having two top quality goalkeepers over the last few years, with England experience shows that the club in now being taken seriously by top flight players.

Saying that when Scott decided to leave, he was involved in the replacement discussions and when a choice of about 12 possible keepers were whittled down to 2 or 3, he knew we would be gaining quality.

'From my point of view you know you're getting a top goalkeeper. You don't play for Man United and England if you have no ability. His personality and character lends itself to a positive environment. He works with a smile on his face and is a pleasure to deal with, as was Scott.'

Kiely added.

'You want goalkeepers to be dependable, reliable and of good character, which Ben is. It shows the progression we have made as a club.'
