Sunderland Was The Boost We Needed

Nicky Shorey believes that our overall performance against Sunderland was exactly the boost the Baggies needed ahead of the Black Country derby.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Shorey believes that it showed that we were close to getting back to our fluent best in attack, whilst also tightening up at the back and cutting out the errors that have cost us in games so far.

Sounds strange after a 2-2 draw, when we were 2-0 up but I sort of see where Shorey is coming from here.

'I think it was one of our best performances of late. We passed the ball really well and caused them a lot of problems. I know we were 2-0 up early but Sunderland were always going to have a spell when they put us under the cosh. After the first half we could have folded but we stood up to the test well and showed what we're made of.'

Shorey adds that he thinks we played some good stuff in the second half, and that it 'felt' more like an Albion performance with us knocking the ball around neatly.
