Long Will Be The Bargain Of The Season

Roy Hodgson believes that come the end of the season everyone in football will view our signing of Shane Long as the bargain of the campaign.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said he believes that the 24 year old will be regularly putting in such outstanding performances, that most clubs will be jealous that they didn't make the move for him.

Talking about his performance against Sunderland, Hodgson said.

'He was outstanding, he really was. I thought it would take him longer to get used to the Premier League, but he's got off to a flying start. His target play was good, he was a threat in front and behind defenders and his work rate was outstanding. We thought this lad had potential. We didn't pay much for him at all, it was, in my opinion, potentially the bargain of the year.'

Huge words from Hodgson whilst Shane is still finding his feet really. But it's been a very good start from him and he can surely only get better with experience.

A number of fans looked curiosly at us signing him, especially for the fee, and I'd imagine there's already a few clubs in the league who wouldn't mind him on their squad lists.
