'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roy's Response: Mental Strength Key

Roy Hodgson wasn't too pleased to see us lose a two goal lead today in Sunderland, but he was pleased we kept fighting on for a point and didn't fold and lose all three.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson focused on the positive elements of the game and he believes we took the lead too early in all honesty.

'We went 2-0 up too early, we had 90 minutes to go when we went 2-0 up so the game starts all over again. At half time it was up to us to get our minds right again and not to think about the fact we'd been 2-0 up. I think we did that reasonably well.'

Hodgson does add that he'd have taken the point before the game, so from that angle he can't be too disappointed, but obviously we have to learn to do better when we take leads like that, and finish the game off rather than allowing the opposition to come back into it.
