Albion`s rebel midfielder Jason Koumas could soon be out of the club with SPL Champions Celtic interested in taking him to Scotland. Manager Gordon Strachan is a fan of Koumas and looks set to bid for the midfielder and take him in the opposite direction to John Hartson.
Koumas has been on strike at Albion since the start of pre-season training and has been fined for the third time this past week for his petulant behaviour. How any clubs can be interested in Koumas after his poor attitude with Albion I don`t know but at least it means there is a way to get this player out of the club.
Celtic join Sheffield United and Cardiff City in the hunt for the Welsh international who can leave for £1.5 million. The midfielder spent last season on loan at Cardiff and it looked as though he was going to Ninian Park but City stalled on their offer and have come in with two unacceptable offers for Koumas.
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has said that he would be more than happy to make a bid for Koumas but not at the price Albion have quoted. Could a deal bringing former Baggies striker Geoff Horsfield back to The Hawthorns in exchange for a cash sum and Koumas be on the cards?
The sooner Koumas is out of The Hawthorns the better, he will never play for Albion again and his situation is distracting to other players. We could continue to fine Koumas and turn down offers dragging the situation out or we can sell him now.
Koumas has said that he does not want to play for Bryan Robson and that is the only issue he has at The Hawthorns so why has he not turned up for training? A lot of people do not get on with their boss but still have to go into work, a lot of people are paid a lot less than Koumas and still have to turn up for work, so he should take a long hard look at himself as this show of petulance has put off a lot of potential bidders.
Jason Koumas has wasted the opportunity he has and has shown the football world what former manager Gary Megson and current boss Robson have seen in their time at the club, his ability is top notch but his attitude is what lets him down. If his attitude matched his ability he would be playing for a top 6 Premiership side.
