Hodgson Not Disappointed To Miss Out On Hargreaves

Roy Hodgson has admitted he's not that disappointed to miss out on Owen Hargreaves who moved to Man City on deadline day.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson explained that whilst negotiations were ongoing the one worry he had was the number of midfielders we have at the club and whether, if successful, any of our current players would feel marginalised by the former England midfielder coming in.

'I think it was very commendable that, through Dan's work in contact with Owen, we got so close to be able to sign him. I think the major fear for me was that we do have quite a few midfield players and I was worried about who it was going to be pushed out the door. I was a bit worried that someone I think we need to keep might have been pushed out the door by being pushed down the pecking order.'

That is one headache that Roy doesn't have to worry about any longer, and not only is he relieved with that, but he also thinks our midfield remains strong and more than adequate anyway.

'I believe we have a strong unit. We haven't seen Dorrans or Gera while Thomas has yet to start a league game. Then of course we have George Thorne who we believe in.'
