Bryan Robson has identified QPR`s Nigerian international defender Danny Shittu as the man that he wants to shore up the Baggies defence but the news has left Albion fans wondering if this means that Curtis Davies is set to join Arsenal before the start of the Championship season.
Shittu has been linked with a move to the Premiership over the last couple of months with Premier League new-boys Watford rumoured to be interested but Albion look to have won the race to sign the powerful defender.
Shittu is a tall, powerful and quick central defender who is good in the air and solid in the tackle, there is no doubting that he would be an asset to the Baggies but at what cost. Shittu is thought to command a fee around the £3 million mark and is almost certainly a replacement for Arsenal bound Davies.
If Albion have agreed a fee with Arsenal it is thought that the deal would involve Arsenal youngster Theo Walcottjoining the Baggies on loan as part of the deal to take Davies to The Emirates Stadium. Walcott could prove to be more important than any cash we would make in the deal for Davies, the former Southampton striker has proved he is a special talent and at this level he would excel with first-team experience and provide Albion with the attacking flare they need.
More news as it appears on the potential signing of Shittu and the Davies and Walcott saga involving Arsenal.
