'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Odemwingie Speaks On Contract Negotiations

Peter Odemwingie has said that he is very close to signing a new deal at the Baggies, and Roy Hodgson has confirmed there is a slight snag between what Albion have offered and what his agent believes he should be earning.

Speaking to the E&S Odemwingie said.

'We are still talking and maybe soon I can extend my contract. It is closer to being something positive, but if things run normally then something will be agreed.'

Last season's top scorer also talked about the speculation linking him with a move away, namely Arsenal.

'It's normal for players to have rumours about them, of course if I get an offer that pleases the club and myself I would take a look at it. But I'm not worried because I'm in a team where I am happy and playing well. I would think hard before leaving West Brom.'

Roy Hodgson however admitted that there had been a slight snag, but he wasn't overly worried and still believed that the deal would be agreed shortly.

'We would like to reward him for his efforts last season but, at the moment, there is a difference between what his agent thinks the rewards should be and what we are prepared to pay and that negotiation is ongoing.'

In what could well be a little nudge for the agent, Hodgson added for the fans' benefit.

'Whatever happens, Odemwingie has got two years left on a contract, so the only question is about what salary he is going to be playing on.'

Agents...are they liked by anybody but the players themselves?
