'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's A Given, Shay To Villa

Following hot on the heels of the departure of Scott Carson, the Baggies have now been linked with Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given...

However the more recent versions of this so far unsubstantiated rumour suggest that Villa will beat us to the punch for the 35 year old.

The details are...

He has turned down an offer from us, because he would prefer to join them, but Manchester City are yet to agree a transfer fee for him, because they want £5m and Villa are only prepared to pay £3m at the moment.

Makes perfect sense, I think I need another coffee.

In all seriousness if we are in for him, I rather hope he's politely asked us to wait so he can assess all his options, as opposed to turning us down flat. There are injury concerns but I'm sure we could get a good few years from him first and he is a quality keeper when fit.

A villan here in peace, not sure what you guys think but 5m seems abit to much for an injury prone keeper, would you guys be happy to pay that much.

Why would he want to play for a team destined for the championship and have to move on again? Out of your league that's why he's going to villa. U can tale brad guzan from us??

Think £5mil is steep given his age now, but bottom line is when fit there are fewer better keepers in the Prem are there. You didn't pay that much less for Friedel did you, and he was older. That said Lee we could well surprise you next season, afterall you couldn't even beat us when we gave you a goal!
