'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roy's Response: The Players Have Made My Weekend

Roy Hodgson has said he was delighted to see the Baggies end our 26 year wait for a victory over the Villa, saying it's made his weekend.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the gaffer said the result has probably made a lot of people's weekends, least of all his own, but he praised the players for their determination in fighting back from behind, and then still being able to carve ourselves an opportunity after going down to 10 men.

'This win has made a few people's weekends, not least of all my own. From a selfish point of view, I'm going to have a wonderful weekend. It's a fantastic feeling with 3 games to go to have achieved our goal of keeping West Brom in the Premier League.'

For the game and the hoodoo, he said simply.

'The good thing is that, once again, we showed a lot of strength, determination and resilience. What's more we broke a 26 year hoodoo. I've broken a few records this year!'

The task for Hodgson now is to start preparing for next season, and strengthening the team so we can push on.

'I'm hoping we can build on the foundations we've laid this year to create a team that can stay in the Premier League year after year.'

Well done Roy and the boys, going to be interesting to see what he does with us over the summer.
