Roy's Response: Red Letter Day For Baggies

Roy Hodgson called the Liverpool win a 'red letter day' for Albion as everything the team had been working on in training worked out on the pitch.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the fantastic win Hodgson was absolutely delighted with the attitude of the team and he believes we were more than worthy winners.

'I'm more than satisfied, I'm really happy with the performance. I thought we really took the game to the opposition and played some really good football.'

It wasn't only our attacking play or the fact the team battled back after going behind that pleased the manager, it was the defensive performance as well.

'Taking a scalp like Liverpool's when you're battling against relegation is a red letter day for this club. When you're protecting a one goal lead I'm afraid there will be some frightening moments and we can thank Nicky for that wonderful clearance off the line.'

Whilst that clearance from Shorey stands out, Hodgson was pleased with our defensive efforts all game long and he was delighted with the teams work to restrict the number of set plays that Liverpool could capitalise on.
