Break Perfect For Vela Says Roy

Roy Hodgson has said the international break couldn't have come at a better time for supersub Carlos Vela.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said that the Mexico friendlies against Paraguay and Venezuela have come at the perfect time for the on loan striker because of how the Baggies fixtures have fallen.

Vela was an unused substitute in our 3-1 victory over Blues, and given that he is ineligible to play against Arsenal, due to the terms of the loan agreement, it means he will have gone almost 5 weeks without a league game in advance of us playing Liverpool on April 2.

'Vela has gone back to Mexico and I hope he will play.'

As for the Arsenal preparation itself, Hodgson is far happier that the Baggies will now mainly be untouched via the remaining international obligations.

'Last week wasn't that good because we had important players away, we also had a couple of injuries. This week will be better in terms of preparation.'
