'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Odemwingie Will Bounce Back

Chris Brunt has backed Peter Odemwingie to bounce back on all cylinders after losing his starting place recently.

The top scorer has started from the bench in the last two games, despite making a good impact when called upon in the second half of the games, but Brunt believes the rest will do him good given the season he's had.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Brunt admitted that Odemwingie had been carrying knocks and at points had looked jaded which would obviously affect his confidence, but more importantly that until recently he hadn't realised how much football our Nigerian star had played this year.

'For strikers it's all about confidence and the couple of games he's had on the bench might give him a little boost. Maybe he is feeling a bit fatigued, a few games out may do him the world of good and freshen him up. It's going to be a very long season for him, without a break.'

For those who don't know, Odemwingie has pretty much played constantly for 12 months now. Lokomotiv Moscow's season kicked off last March, he represented Nigeria at the World Cup and then started with us in August.

That is a long time in anybodies books without a proper holiday when you have to keep fitness up despite knocks, and maintain your focus.

Hopefully this little break from the starting line up as well as our rather empty March will have been enough for him to recharge his batteries properly, because an on song Odemwingie would definitely be welcomed as we move towards the close of the season.
