Nicky Shorey has given special praise to Abdoulaye Meite and Paul Scharner for being key to Roy Hodgson's impressive start as Baggies boss.
Speaking to wba.co.uk the diminutive left back said that Albion's resurgence in form should come as no surprise given the aforementioned players involvement.
'Some managers like different players, I think Abou has taken his chance so far and done really well. It is pleasing because he has always been a good part of the dressing room and the lads love him.'
As for Paul Scharner, Shorey knows he has bags of experience and against Blues the battling ethic of him and Youssouf were very important to us controlling Blues.
'Scharner has been immense for us, he has got good experience and he is a warrior and we need that at this stage of the season.'
In more words of praise for the new gaffer Shorey also adds that Hodgson has a very calm demeanor in the dressing room and that helps players relax and refocus on the tasks at hand without panicking or losing motivation - which he thinks was shown at the weekend.
'We were a bit worried they equilised so quickly, but thankfully we managed to step it up again. It was a massive win. (Hodgson) stays calm, he knows what he is doing, he has got a lot of experience and that has helped us.'
