Jerome Thomas has said he and the Baggies other flair players are happy to rein in their attacking intent and get stuck in, in order to achieve survival.
Speaking to wba.co.uk Thomas said that the whole outlook of the team had been changing in training and that now our forward line had to be our first line defence and after improved showings against Wolves and Stoke, the team will now be looking for a maximum return from the local derby against Blues on Saturday.
'If I had to say one thing he's changed, it's bringing more stability tot he team. He wants two banks of four and as an attacking winger I have to sacrifice some of that to keep the shape. It just means more tucking in, more tackling, more defending - and heading on Monday!'
Thomas says he's no problems with doing that because we couldn't obviously keep shipping goals at the rate we were and all the players want to stay in the Premiership and avoid relegation so it's a case of needs must.
'I'm all for it. No one wants to get relegated.'
Thomas gave way for Vela in the 83rd minute and it proved a masterstroke and could've won us the game in all honesty, but Thomas thought the reaction of the bench to the goal should tell Baggies supporters all they need to know about the spirit in the camp.
'I don't think our spirit was ever in doubt, we all went off the bench because it was a great moment.'
