'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roy Delighted With Desire

Roy Hodgson has said that he believes that the players share the same burning desire to avoid relegation as he does, and that in knowing that the battle for survival is part won.

Speaking on wba.co.uk Hodgson started talking generally about the reaction from the media in understanding how difficult a job he faced when he took the Baggies hotseat, and he said his first job was to ensure the players realised the full extent of the situation the club were in, and he's more than convinced that the players understand.

'If I was to go on the evidence, I'd say there is that burning ambition because we were by no means bullied in a strong, physical game against Wolves.'

Roy thinks our home form will be key given the sides we have to face, but obviously he'd also like to see the effort put in by the players in training rewarded by some away day victories as at least on paper, our remaining fixtures away from home should see us pick up a number of points.

'I think we will need to win away, but our away record is shared by a number of clubs, it's not just us who find it hard to win away but we do need some 3 pointers and give ourselves a chance.'

Hodgson adds that with how tight the league is it will simply be a matter of which clubs can't put a run together in the remaining matches.

At the point of typing this we are in 18th place with 28 points - 11 points short of Liverpool in 6th place. It really is still anybodies game if we can claw out some victories.
