Hodgson Calls On Entire Squad To Play Their Part

Steven Reid has said Roy Hodgson has called on the entire Baggies squad to play their part as we look to lift ourselves up the table.

Speaking to the Express and Star Reid revealed that the manager has told every member of the squad that they have their part to play and they need to be physically and mentally to put in a performance if they are called upon.

'We've had meetings and training sessions and we're getting to know each other but he's put all 25 of us on alert. We know that we will all be needed.'

Reid himself is hoping that he can work his way into the managers plans and play a big part for the club as the season draws to a close.

'If I can keep fit, then I hope to play a major part.'

He also thinks the manager has had a good effect on the team despite being here for only a short while, but he knows it's going to be tough and we look to ensure our survival.

'Defensively his aim is to keep clean sheets. If we can do that we're always confident of scoring at the other end. We will need desire and mental strength. We will need to keep our heads and keep belief. It's a massive challenge for us that will ask questions of our character, but we have to rise to it.'

One thing is for sure, Hodgson is certainly pushing them harder in training, especially on defensive duties, tracking back and being far more controlled in how we approach games.

Whether his more defensively minded setup will click quick enough to force a major improvement in our results I don't know, but we showed we are capable of doing that against Wolves and we need to go into the Stoke match looking to do the same again.
