'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vela Targeting A Bigger Return

Carlos Vela is determined the secure the Baggies Premiership status by improving his own play and scoring record.

Having baggied (see what I did there!) his debut goal in the league for Albion against Wolves, Carlos is adamant that there will be more to follow and if he reaches his own aims, then that means we'll be safe for the season to boot.

Speaking to the Express and Star Vela said that he knows he's not the finished article and that he has a lot of work still to do in terms of development, but he's loving his time so far at the club and the only thing on his mind is helping improve our league position.

'I am enjoying it, I came here to play and to try to help the team but I have to work hard and improve my level to help the team.'

Speaking about his Baggies debut goal, he said.

'Yesterday was a good day for me, and I hope I have more days like that. I feel very good that I could help the team to take a point.'

Despite his joy Vela knows that we really needed all 3 points and he says that the maximum return was the plan for the day, but failing that not losing and gaining at least the point has to be the next best thing in our position.

'The team wanted to win but we are happy because one point is better than nothing.'

It certainly is my young Mexican friend, but let's hope we can turn these draws into wins as the season draw to a close.
