Jonas Olsson was pleased with our showing against Wolves last weekend simply because it was a far finer defensive showing from the lads.
Speaking to wba.co.uk Jonas was delighted with the rapid improvement shown against Wolves given the stats say in the last 11 matches we haven't conceded less than 2 goals per game and although wba.co.uk says we limited Wolves to a single chance on target, and the BBC say 2 on target, who cares...it's a good improvement that will soon become great if we can continue defending that well for the remainder of the season.
'It's been a long time since we kept a clean sheet and I felt maybe we deserved one. We defended well.'
Olsson seems to agree that our biggest failing this season has been defensively, which is kind of stating the obvious with the above stats, allied with the fact we haven't kept a clean sheet in the league since our opening home game of the season, and says.
'We need to be solid and organised shape wise, we know we have the qualities to score. We have match winners in our team so if we can stop the ball going in our net, we have a really good chance of winning games.'
Olsson saved his final praise for onloan youngster Carlos Vela who opened his Albion account.
'It was great for Carlos, he has been training hard and we could see his qualities when he came on yesterday. You have to take your hat off to him because it was a good finish.'
We'd certainly take one of those per game from Vela, and then preferably 3-4 more from others!
Well I would.
