James Beattie back on Baggies radar

Former Stoke City frontman James Beattie is rumoured to be back on the radar of West Brom.

After missing out on Villa's John Carew it is possible that the Baggies could make a move for Beattie. The forward has failed to settle in Glasgow and it is believed that Walter Smith would be prepared to let him move to the Hawthorns until the end of the season.

The Baggies tried to sign Beattie at the start of the season but he opted for a trip north of the border instead when he signed for £1.5 million on a two year deal.

Beattie is probably not the man that most fans would like to see in the blue and white stripes but he does have a proven record in the Premier League and if he has the desire he could prove a real asset in the fight against relegation. His reported £17k per week wages would not present a problem to Albion as they were prepared to match the £52k per week Villa were paying Carew.

Beattie is bound to be the first of many names linked to West Brom in the lead up to the close of the transfer window. Watch this space for further news.
