Albion linked with Davenport

Albion have been linked with a £1.3 million bid for former Coventry defender Calum Davenport as Bryan Robson looks to bolster his defensive options for the season ahead.

Davenport is currently at Tottenham but has seen little first-team action following his move from Coventry City two seasons ago.

Davenport made his name at Coventry City and earned his move to White Hart Lane on the back of some fantastic performances for the Sky Blues.

The defenders move was not as straight forward as most transfers as no sooner had the defender signed for Spurs he had joined Coventry's Championship rivals West Ham on loan till the end of that season.

Davenport has been short of opportunities since his return to Spurs and has spent time on loan at Norwich and Southampton in his bid to impress Spurs boss Martin Jol.

I don't know a lot about Davenport, I know he was quality at Coventry but his career has come to a standstill at Spurs. I have heard mixed reviews on the defender but if he is anything like the player that played for Coventry he would be a good addition to the squad.

Albion are waiting to hear whether their bid for Jason Roberts has been accepted, Albion are hoping to tie up a deal for the striker in the next couple of weeks if Roberts is interested in a return to The Hawthorns.

I am hoping that Roberts feels as though he has unfinished business at Albion and that he would look forward to linking up with Nathan Ellington and new signing John Hartson.

Yeah really dont think we should let him go he has done a good job everytime he has had to step in

he's definitely a good player and I think he'll stay with Spurs

His opportunities at Spurs have been limited and that is because we are not Coventry, nothing to do with the player. 98% of Spurs fans will tell you that they are not even sure why we are entertaining offers for him.
