'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Olsson Committed to Baggies Cause

Jonas Olsson has welcomed fellow defender Pablo Ibanez to the Hawthorns and is confident of keeping his place in the starting XI .

West Brom have signed two defenders in the close season, the Spaniard a free signing from Atletico Madrid and Gabriel Tamas, another free singing from Auxerre.

Unlike some professionals Olsson, 27, appears to be relishing the competition for places in Roberto Di Matteo`s side and feels that strength in depth can only benefit the club.

Speaking to the Express and Star of the clubs new arrivals Olsson said:
'They bought a Spaniard and he is so clearly a great signing. It is always good to have competition. Competition raises everyone because you have to fight for your place. But I feel I have a strong role in the team. I was vice-captain this year and played almost all the games. I feel safe in that role.'
