Jones looking to land Koumas

Jones looking to land Koumas

Cardiff City will launch a bid to take Baggies midfielder Jason Koumas to Ninian Park permanently in the next couple of weeks.

City boss Dave Jones is looking to use the money raised from the sale of Cameron Jerome to Birmingham to land the Welsh international on a permanent basis.

Koumas spent last season on loan at Ninian Park, scoring 12 goals and winning a place in the Championship team of the season.

The Welshman has made no secret of his desire to move away from The Hawthorns after falling out with Baggies gaffer Bryan Robson.

Robson accused the former Tranmere man of being immature and slammed the midfielders work rate saying that Koumas had a disruptive effect on the rest of his squad.

There is no doubting Koumas' attributes as a player but his attitude could be questioned according to Robson.

Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam has made no secret of the admiration he has for Koumas and that if they could come to some arrangement with Albion then they would.

An offer of £1.5 to £2 million should be enough to tempt Albion into selling the midfielder and Cardiff now have the cash to make it happen.

With the emergence of Richard Chaplow whilst on loan at Southampton the loss of someone of Koumas' ability may not be as bad as it could have been.

Chaplow is a similar kind of player and his performance against Reading for the Baggies last season shows that when given the opportunity he is capable of putting in impressive performances that could win us games.

He is quality but Robson doesn't want him, £2 million and I would be happy...

Such a shame. I thought Koumas was one of those who was destined to be a premiership great.

Looked like a good player! You should pay an over the top fee for him though!
