Injuries, injuries and loan signings

Roberto Di Matteo has until next Thursday to bring in any more loan signings to help strengthen his injury hit squad.

It looks likely that he will be without Jonas Olsson, Steven Reid, and Roman Bednar for Saturday's home game against Preston.

Jerome Thomas is still unfit and also remains a doubt for Saturday.

'I'm not expecting Jonas, Steven or Roman to be back for Saturday,' said Di Matteo.

Reid has a minor injury but this is made worse by him having to get used to the 'sheer volume' of games. It has been a while since he has been called on to play this regularly.

Olsson could take up to a week to recover, for Bednar it will more like a fortnight.

New boy Frank Nouble is back at West Ham and there are no plans to recall him.

On the subject of loan signings, RDM is monitoring the situation: 'We'll have to see how our injuries are. If everyone was fit then I'd be happy with our squad.'
