'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Giles Barnes gets ready

The former Derby star Giles Barnes played his first game in six months yesterday and got a vital 45-minute shift in the 3-2 victory over Port Vale reserves at The Hawthorns.

Things obviously got a bit tasty as Barnes remarked: 'I had to ride a few challenges yesterday and I noticed I had four stud marks in my ankle after the game. That was a proper welcome back - but I don't mind that!'

Barnes has been suffering from an Achilles injury sustained in August and seems to have enjoyed the test: 'My legs feel stronger and I feel sharp so hopefully I can carry on.'

Encouraging stuff and it will be interesting to see how RDM views this progress. Over to you Robbo!
