Cardiff v West Brom Stat check

Cardiff v West Brom Stat check

Interesting to see that West Brom and Cardiff have the highest goal scoring averages in the Championship.

According to The Times Albion are in first place with an average of 2.03 goals per game, Cardiff are second with 1.90.

If you match this against the division leading scorers you see that Whittingham and Chopra, both of Cardiff, occupy the top two spots with 29 goals between them. West Brom don't have a single player in the top eight.

This makes the strategy for tonight fairly straight forward for Albion - contain the two strikers. Cardiff have a trickier task of trying to stop the goals coming from any number of positions on the field.

And if you look at the corresponding home and away records there is a big difference in form. Cardiff have clocked up a fair 7 wins at home and a total of 24 points. Pretty strong play-off position stuff.

But now match that to Albion's away record. 8 wins and a total of 30 points. That's promotion material right there and does suggest that, although we have been weakened by injuries, we can get another win this evening and move 14 points clear of the chasing Bluebirds.
