Albion snatch a draw as Robbo gets it wrong

We've praised Robert Di Matteo, on these pages before, for keeping some consistency in his first-team selection. But surely, with our away record as it is, and playing a team 19th in the league, this was the perfect time to get some of the rested strikers back into action.

Di Matteo missed that opportunity and our overall dominance in possession failed to materialize into goals. Plucky Ipswich stuck to their game plan and were awarded a very dubious penalty, converted in the 68th minute by Leadbitter.

This was the catalyst for a chaotic end to the game as Di Matteo threw strikers onto the pitch, but no-one seemed to know where they were supposed to be playing. Ipswich hit the panic button and seemed to invite Albion to attack at will.

Deep into time added on Chris Brunt managed to net a low drive from inside the penalty to save Albion's blushes. Perhaps the damage to our automatic promotion prospects was done before a ball had been kicked.

Have your say on Robbo's tactics on our forum.
