'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robbie wields the axe

Roberto Di Matteo has told his players to expect some changes to the team ahead of Monday's trip to Newcastle, according to the club's official website.

He wasn't alone in being hugely disappointed by his side's timid performance against promotion rivals Nottingham Forest, our fourth home defeat of the season.

'I will make changes for the next game,' said Di Matteo.'It was just a collective bad performance. Even our most consistent players had a bad game. It was just a bad day.'

Well, you could say that, but we've had a few bad days now at QPR, Cardiff, and Swansea. The lazy thinking behind RDM's comment implies that there was nothing tactically that could have been done to change the result. It was just one of those days; nothing that preparation, correct starting line-up, or substitutions could have altered. Doesn't fill you with confidence does it?

Expect a return for Youssouf Mulumbu in midfield, so far restricted to one league start in ten games since summer signing Gonzalo Jara established himself in central midfield.
