Chaplow keen on Baggies return

Chaplow has been on loan at Championship side Southampton for the past three months and impressed Saints boss George Burley.

The Saints boss said, 'Richard has bags of energy and enthusiasm and ability and he could go all the way. He can be a very good Premiership player which is why I was keen to bring him in on loan.'

Chaplow, who scored in the Saints 2-0 win at Brighton, has been in impressive form for Southampton and has given Baggies boss Bryan Robson some food for thought for next season.

Chaplow told the Official Southampton website, 'I hope West Brom can stay up too.

'I have kept in touch with West Brom and hopefully I can get back there and prove a point to everyone at West Brom as well.

'I'm optimistic I can make it in that team and hopefully when I get back there I will be given the chance to do so."

Chaplow is a player just lacking that little bit of experience for the Premier League but his performances at Southampton must have made Robson stand up and take notice.

With Jason Koumas heading out of the club in the summer we need the attacking options in midfield and Chaplow is that kind of player.

Hopefully next season we will see a lot more of the former Burnley man and he can hold down a first-team place for Albion.
