Blues played the game in hand they had over us last night when they entertained Bolton at St Andrews.
Jiri Jarosik scored the only goal of the game last night handing Blues the three points they needed to leapfrog the Baggies out of the relegation zone.
With their point at the weekend against league leaders Chelsea they were hoping to build on it with three points against Sam Allardyce's Bolton side.
Bolton have now lost three games on the trot and their dreams of European qualification look to have ended.
Blues are now a point ahead of Albion in the race for survival and face a tough game at Wigan at the weekend as the Baggies make the short trip to Villa Park.
Portsmouth are also in the race for survival, currently level on points with Albion they do have a game in hand to play against Arsenal at Fratton Park. On Saturday they face Blackburn at home and on current form you would expect them to claim all three points.
Blues are in the driving seat after last nights win but there are many twists and turns left this season and as we know from last season things will change.
Portsmouth are the form side with three wins on the bounce, followed by Blues who are now unbeaten in two games.
We need to win on Sunday to get our confidence back and build on it. We have a tough game at Highbury after the Villa game so we need to take the points from Villa Park.
Let's hope that the return of Zoltan Gera and Nigel Quashie boost us at Villa Park. It's going to be a nervous run in but after last season we have the experience to get out of this, so let's get behind the team and support them until we all know the outcome of this years season.
