Nancy striker seeks to up the Baggies Fortuné

West Brom have signed the new Cyrille Regis - French Guyana born AS Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortuné.

West Brom last week announced the signing of the 27 year old on a six month loan contract from AS Nancy of the French top flight. The move came after a flurry of media speculation linking the Baggies to Ariza Makukala, Fortuné and Pegguy Luyindula last week. After the Makukala deal fell through, reportedly due to the players mercenary demands, Peace and Mowbray moved quickly to bring in the six foot striker, who has a modest though respectable scoring record for his previous clubs.

Fortuné marked a very lively debut on Saturday with a goal, albeit one he knew little about, but his running into space, and work rate were both first class - as was the understanding he has managed to build with a group of players he only met two days previously.

Also, after seeing Makukala's debut on MOTD I must admit I am delighted with the player we ended up with, and wish Fortuné all the best in his time at the Hawthorns.
