Zuiverloon signs as Phillips gets ready to leave

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the signing of Gianni Zuiverloon from Dutch side Heerenveen.

The Baggies have paid £3.2m for the talented right back who is an under 21 international already picked for Holland's Olympic squad.

Zuiverloon fits in perfectly with the type of player Mowbray is normally associated with. He is young, athletic and extremely quick.

Good luck Gianni!

One player in and possibly another player out. It is being reported that Kevin Phillips is about to sign for Midland rivals, Birmingham City.

If true, Super Kev will go with the best wishes of Albion fans. He has had two magnificent seasons in the Championship scoring in excess of 20 goals in each and he was instrumental in firing Albion back to the top flight.

It is clear with the purchase of Moore, Miller and Bednar that Kevin's chances will be limited this season. He doesn't fit into the Mowbray mould of young, athletic and quick and perhaps he may feel that he is not quite cut out for the Premier League anymore.

If Phillips does go I for one will be sad to see him go but nobody is irreplaceable. In Tony Mowbray Albion have a manager capable of identifying talent and bringing it on quickly and I am sure that an able replacement is already in his sights.

Zuiverloon looks like a real potential gem - he was very useful for the Dutch U21's a while back against England and Mowbs obviously recognised ability when we played Heerenveen pre-season. I will be gutted if KP departs, especially as recent noises from his camp have been very positive but you seem to call the right outcomes Lord Shepherd - if he goes he's already cemented his place as a Baggies legend to my mind.

Hi Alex. Long time no speak. Good news on Zuiverloon but sad to see Kevin on his way but then again he is 35 and does have a dodgy knee.

Whats happening with Kevin Phillips? is he staying or going?
