Nigel Quashie has spoken for the first time since his dismissal against Middlesbrough last Sunday and admitted that he is gutted by the prospect of missing up to five games.
Quashie said, 'It is dreadful timing. I am gutted. It just devastates me to be out when the team needs me.'
Quashie only has one man to blame, himself. He kicked out at George Boateng and deserved his red card, what he should have done is accept the decision and walk away.
What he chose to do has cost him a chance of helping the club stay in this division leaving him with only 6 games of the season to make an impact in the fight for survival.
Quashie's ban should mean a recall against Chelsea for Junichi Inamoto after the Japanese midfielder was dropped for Sunday's defeat. It could also mean a return to the squad for Darren Carter.
Quashie has until 6pm tonight to appeal against his charge but the odds are stacked against him and Albion expect to be without him for at least five games.
