'If It's Football, It's Vital'

West Brom wave goodbye to Paddy McCourt

After talks with the Derry City FC winger yesterday Tony Mowbray has confirmed that Paddy McCourt will not be joining West Bromwich Albion.

'... during the clubs discussions with Pat, it became clear he has other options where he feels he may have a greater opportunity to play first team football and we wish him all the best' Mowbray explained to the official club website.

McCourt who is a target for Norwich City and Celtic obviously felt that his chances at West Brom would be limited. The Baggies have a very strong midfield with Chris Brunt, James Morrison, Jonathan Greening, Do-Heon Kim, Robert Koren all players who would be ahead of McCourt in the pecking order.

He was never going to sign once Celtic declared their interest and its right that we don't bend over backwards trying to persuade players like this to sign for us.
