Carson Yeung to bid for West Brom?

Carson Yeung is to ditch his bid to take overall control of Birmingham City in favour of a takeover bid for West Brom. That is if you believe today's report on the back pages of the Sunday Mercury.

The Sunday Mercury quotes Yeung's aid Sammy Yu as saying 'Honestly I think taking less than 51 percent (Jeremy Peace's shareholding) is not what we want, if it is more than that then maybe we can consider'.

The thought of Yeung turning his attention to West Brom will worry most Baggies fans but it is doubtful whether Mr Peace would entertain such a bid.

Whilst this week's news that West Brom will listen to investment proposals has got fans dreaming of a multi billionaire buying the likes of Deco, Villa and Ronaldo it is very unlikely that anyone with sufficient financial muscle would consider bidding for the Baggies. We will see but come 1 August I expect that Jeremy Peace will still be in charge and that West Bromwich Albion will continue to be run sensibly without any danger of doing a Leeds or worse still a Gretna.

I don't think you would want him. He sounded a bit of a wally whilst his talks with Birmingham were going on.

We don't want him and I doubt we will get him, for one he has to sell his stake in Blues and for a second reason Jeremy Peace is a good friend of David Gold and I am sure he will warn him off any deal.
