Kevin Phillips moved into second place in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Coca-Cola Championship, after boosting West Brom`s title aspirations.

The 34-year-old posted the third-highest score in the latest round of fixtures, registering a season`s-best away score of 44 points in the 3-1 win at Blackpool before adding 17 in the 1-1 draw with Watford.

Phillips, who has the highest average score in the Index with 20 points a game, scored twice from three shots on target and also contributed five passes at Bloomfield Road.

Phillips sits second in the Index with 608 points while team-mate Paul Robinson is the top-ranked defender in fourth place with 570 points.

Analysis of all Championship games is taking place throughout the season and so far the top five West Brom players are:

Player Ranking Position Ranking Index Score

Kevin Phillips, 2nd, 1st-Ranked Striker, 608

Paul Robinson, 4th, 1st-Ranked Defender, 570

Jonathan Greening, 39th, 11th-Ranked, Midfielder, 450

Dean Kiely, 43rd, 10th-Ranked Goalkeeper, 448

Carl Hoefkens, 44th, 12th-Ranked Defender, 443

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
