West Brom boss Tony Mowbray explains as to why the West Brom played engaged in a group hug at the end of the 1-1 draw with Charlton.
As the season enters it’s final throws, the teams that will ultimately make it in what has been a closer-than-ever Championship season, will be the ones that work hard together to achieve the ultimate goal of promotion to the Premier League.
Mowbray was happy with the performance as the Baggies came from behind, and nearly snatched it as Zoltan Gera, on baby-break from international duty thundered a ball off the Charlton cross bar with an audacious volley on 89 minutes. The gaffer spoke to the official West Brom website:
“I enjoyed watching my team play today”
“If we play like that most weeks, we should have no fears.
“We've got plenty of away games to come but we've gone to Charlton and dominated the match, so we should have no fears.”
Regarding the huddle, it was a sign of unity for the supporters to take heart from:
'Today, it was important to show our supporters this team is unified and together.
“Whether we win promotion or not, the bigger picture for us is to keep improving individually and collectively.
“We're trying to play a style of football so that ultimately, when we get to where we want to go, we won't get found wanting.”
“The team have got to keep believing that's the right way”
