Goals from Zoltan Gera, Ishmael Miller and Roman Bednar were enough to snap the 3-game winless streak for West Brom and in turn, ending the winging run of today’s opposition Plymouth Argyle.
Ishmael Miller, Filipe Teixeira and Chris Brunt were all handed starts in place of the dropped Gera and injured Phillips and Morrison. There was no starting place for Luke Moore who arrived from Aston Villa last week.
The comfortable victory sees West Brom start to claw their way back towards the automatic promotion places, with Bristol and Stoke City occupying 1st and 2nd palce respectively.
Gera’s new found place on the Baggies substitute bench lasted just 17 minutes as he was brought on for the injured Teixeira. It was the Hungarian midfielder that broke the deadlock, suggesting that Mowbray had been wrong to drop Zoltan as he picked up a rebound from a Miller shot to poke home from close range.
Miller scored on 59 minutes, a goal that early indications suggest was a fluke. I will reserve judgement of course until I see the highlights!
The game was wrapped up as Roman Bednar converted Jonathan Greening’s knock down.
3 goals, 3 points, lovely!
